KFC needs to stop giving out coupons because they suck at it

Anali reports on how she got shut out at the KFC on Hancock Street in Quincy today:

... There is food there and I can see it. They are giving it to people in front of me. It was almost my turn at the register when the man at the counter announced that the coupons weren't being accepted anymore. Anyone with a coupon would have to fill out a rain check form with their name and address and a coupon would be mailed to them. WTF!!?? They have got to be kidding!! Why should anyone have to give their personal information.

When they partnered up with Oprah, they should have anticipated huge numbers. They should have been ready. None of this should have surprised them. What kind of bait and switch is this? ...

Yelp now removing Boston reviews?

Over at Charlesgate Realty, Michael DiMella complains that Yelp has pulled several reviews of his business. And even though the ones that got yanked were the less-than-perfect ones (he now only has reviews giving him perfect 5s), he's upset:

... I think this is a complete disrespect to me, my business, and my employees, not to mention my customers who WASTED their time writing their thoughtful reviews. We're promoting Yelp to our customers because Yelp provides us a tool to allow customers to comment freely (without our control) and gives us an opportunity to earn new business from the reviews (which I anticipate being mostly positive - hopefully!). And if we happen to get a bad review - even better - it will give us an opportunity to correct things!

But because of this, I have really had my faith in Yelp shaken. I am not sure if I should discontinue linking to Yelp, and mentioning Yelp to customers or not. What's the point? I don't want to waste my time or my customers' time. ...

New Pumar ad campaign is wicked sucky

Have you see the new Boston-themed wall-to-wall campaign for Puma at Park Street? It spells out words like "Habah" and "dance floah."

Kate Hutchinson is weihded out:

Dear Puma: boston accent advertising has been done to death. Try something new, like selling your product

Aaron Weber also gets his Boston up, says he finds the ads condescending at best:

... It marks the advertiser as an outsider desperate to fit in, as a tourist, as an out-of-towner. You might as well walk the Freedom Trail in khaki shorts, sandals with socks, a tricorner hat and a t-shirt with a lobster on it. That's definitely not the image Puma wants, but it's what they're getting. ...

When did Dogpile become the default search for boston.com?

Did I miss something? What page do you get when you browse to http://movies.boston.com/?

I now get a Dogpile semi-custom search page with vaugely-relevant links to movies playing nowadays. Why don't I get sent to the page I want, at http://www.boston.com/ae/movies/ ?

Did I miss the discussion when they switched some of their subdomains (only select ones, since http://cars.boston.com/ is not found)? Or is this such old news that I've forgotten it.
