As he waited for the Patriots parade down Boylston this morning, Nick Barber watched the guy attaching the Patriots banner to the pole atop the Old Hancock Building.
You can sort of see him about halfway up the pole in the photo below - if you squint and use your imagination a bit:

Because it's sounding like downtown and surrounding areas are at gridlock right now - and it can't possibly be because of people heading to the Beanpot, can it?

Two lanes are trying to exit at Charles MGH off Storrow. Those two lanes are not moving.

The Globe's Andrew Ryan reports police officers will be instructed to order down anyone they see atop a snow pile during tomorrow's Patriots victory parade.
Too much snow on the ground, too much cold, the Mayor says:
Due to today's bad weather and the worsening forecast for tonight, the New England Patriots and the City of Boston have made the mutual decision to postpone the victory parade until Wednesday, February 4 at 11 a.m.
And today is not one of those days. Jeff Tamagini captured an 18-wheeler stuck in the snow around 12:30 p.m. on Boylston Street by the Hynes.
Because that's when the Patriots Duck Boat parade will start at the Prudential Center. It will end with at City Hall, rather than with the ceremonial dunking in the Charles, because the Duck Boats are not equipped as icebreakers.
UPDATE: Mayor Walsh says no rally at City Hall, though, due to all the snow and the windchill. Also: City is working to remove snow from everywhere, not just the parade route, mayor says. He adds:
I think we're gonna have school tomorrow. We're not cancelling school for the parade tomorrow, I can tell you that.
Paula Tennyson looked out at the height of the storm to see a woman making sure a hydrant is clear on Comm. Ave. in the Back Bay.
Christopher spotted one of those snow melters in action in the Back Bay tonight.
Senator Eileen Donoghue .. claimed the high costs associated with..becoming a host city would be outweighed by the economic gains from increased tourism and business.
Nick Barber created this 40-hour time-lapse video out of 5,000 images, snapped once every 30 seconds on a GoPro camera mounted on a Back Bay roof. The round things are upturned chairs to which a whiteboard with the measurements was zip-tied.

Some Bostonians are fighting to keep the 2024 Summer Olympics out of their city due.

Plans released by Boston 2024 show most of the Common and a significant portion of the Public Garden - including the Make Way for Ducklings statues - off limits to the public during the Olympics. Construction of a 16,000-seat beach-volleyball stadium and related structures, meanwhile, would shut the ball fields and other parts of the Common for months before the games.
