Trolley vs. bicyclist at Brigham Circle this morning

Bobby Main tweets he was on an inbound E trolley around 8:40 a.m.:

E line inbound stopped at brigham circle. T hit a bike. He's ok but a little banged up.

UPDATE: MBTA Transit Police report says bicyclist admitted blame for driving into the trolley, declined medical attention for scrapes and bruises.

from what i could tell, the bicyclist was crossing the track and got clipped by the T, but i could be wrong... luckily, he was fine when we got off the T... standing there, writing info down and what not. he had a bloody elbow and a pretty bad scrape on his leg, but he otherwise seemed okay. the t actually did a good job of turning the T's around at brigham circle (the accident happened right before the platform, so there was room to pull the outbound trains onto the inbound platform and get people going back inbound). only about a 10 minute delay at the station. definitely had worse.

Also see the Transit Police report, now linked from the original post above.

I wonder why the T report would include the name of Mr. Oldenburg. but blacked out the name of the T operator who hit the gentleman?

names of any investigating officers, witnesses, and others directly involved in incidents like this in copies of police reports released to the public. It's both to protect privacy and to minimize possible retalliation on the part of the suspect (probably NOT an issue here, but could be in more serious criminal matters).

That having been said, it seems to me the question that should be asked is why Mr. Oldenburg's name was not redacted as well.

I predict the following frequent story: Green Line pre-emptively turning all trains at Brigham Circle due to reports of bicyclists in the area.

A Boston bicyclist admitting fault. That must be a first.
