How well do you know your Park Street headhouses?

Penny Cherubino posts a copy of a flier T workers were handing out today to let Park Street commuters know the westbound headhouse (i.e., entrance) will be shut for "approximately five weeks" to allow reconstruction of the stairs.

Five weeks, huh?

Put me down for April 11, 2010.

Hey, Barletta! I'm calling you out right here and now!

"About 5 weeks", huh? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and go with 8 weeks, a near-perfect 2 months. Let's see what you've got.

but Barletta is actually pretty good when it comes to finishing bid jobs on time. In fact, they have gotten bonuses on some projects where they have actually finished early!

the T should be providing on the message boards and PA announcements, instead of trying to convince the masses that "free" FastLane transponders will solve all their life problems.

Also, no advisory about this yet on the T web page. Why am I not surprised?

I always go "What the hell" everytime the Fastlane Transponder message comes on.

Better than Andrew Ference I suppose.

He's a defenseman for the Bruins and he cares about our safety while riding the T.

I'd like to get a second pool going.

Bets on the MBTA continuing the lock the other entrance from the outside? Many times you can only get in if the door is opened by someone exiting.

Why is the MBTA incapable of communicating to customers in plain English? Instead we get insider lingo and this is but one example (a favorite of mine: "there's service directly behind us"). The MBTA can't be bothered to make announcements using terms people who don't WORK there actually know.

Did they move the Combat Zone?

changed "headhouse" to "entrance". I'm a bit nervous about that "to begin" caveat in the work description line though.

Park Street Station entrance closing

On Friday evening, March 6, 2009, the Park Street Station entrance that provides access to the Red/Green Line westbound platform will temporary close. The staircase will be closed for approximately five weeks to allow the MBTA contractor, Barletta Construction to begin removing and replacing the existing staircase. Customers will be able to access Park Street through the eastbound entrance and the Boston Common entrance. MBTA personnel will be available to assist and direct customers to their destination. 2/25/2009 3:49 PM 2/25/2009 5:29 PM
