The Bostonian Society took down the lion and the unicorn from the Old State House today for renovations. Jocelyn was there to watch them cage the lion, no doubt to make sure he didn't escape and try to re-assert his royal authority over the colony.

Erica Mattison saw this singer at Downtown Crossing today, thought he was wonderful, wonders if anybody knows who he is.

This plaque is embedded in the sidewalk on the Tremont Street side of the Parker House. It's easy to miss - who looks down while walking down that particularly busy sidewalk? - but once you see it, you just know you have to stop and take a look.

Conor Yunits was more than nonplussed to see this at South Station yesterday, which, he reminds us, was Sept. 10. Sept. 10, people.

The Globe reports on plans by Ashkenazy Acquisition Corp., which currently runs the city-owned marketplace for what could be its largest revamp since it was redone as a festival market in the 1970s: Wider spaces, the removal of heel-killing brick sidewalks, fancier restaurants and more seating in what the oldtimers still know as the Quincy Market building.

That word comes too late for a pair of Boston residents, whom Transit Police report were literally caught red handed on charges of defacing the driver's door of a Red Line trains last night.

Police say that around 8 p.m. yesterday, somebody punched in their digits to report that two guys who had been marking up the driver's door on a Red Line train were getting off at Downtown Crossing.
