An aggrieved citizen reports on somebody using a traffic cone to save a space on Samoset Street in Dorchester.

Why dies this man insist in using a privilege not allowed others?

Why indeed? The city promptly marked the case closed, after reporting the cone was removed for disposal.

Update, 7:40 a.m., Tuesday: MassDOT reports all lanes in both directions are now open.

State Police shut the highway in both directions around 10 p.m. when a tanker with about 8,000 gallons of gasoline rolled over and began leaking. Fire and hazmat crews from across the area are staging in the Woburn Mall parking lot to try to control the leak.

1. Boston and Chelsea firefighters testing pipes on the Tobin Bridge intended to carry water in the event of a fire.

The Boston Fire Department reports crews this morning are testing the standpipes that bring water to the roadways - they are supposed to withstand 200 lbs. of pressure for two hours.

The first test this morning was stopped as a valve did not hold and water started flowing out. That is being fixed.

A day after we learned the alleged final cost of the Big Dig, the Supreme Judicial Court ruled the way the then turnpike authority shifted toll revenues to Big Dig construction costs was perfectly legal.

A bunch of turnpike commuters had challenged the money shifting, arguing it amounted to an unconstitutional tax, because they were paying for a new road system they might not use.

Boston Police report a 9-year-old boy died after being hit by a car at Columbia Road and Washington Street around 10:30 p.m.

The MBTA reports it's shutting its Quincy Center garage starting tomorrow due to decaying concrete - and that it has no date for re-opening it.

Weekly inspections have revealed water damage and patterns of concrete deterioration within the parking facility. With public safety as a top priority, the MBTA has decided to close the garage indefinitely. There are no issues with the Red Line and Commuter Rail Stations at Quincy Center. The MBTA will work in cooperation with the City of Quincy with respect to any future decisions regarding the garage.

State Police announced today they've terminated Adam Paicos, a trooper caught off duty driving the wrong way on Memorial Drive in April. In a statement, State Police add:

On a date in May, Paicos was observed by a senior command officer engaged in further conduct unbecoming a state trooper, also while off-duty. Paicos was still on probationary employment status when the incidents occurred. The internal investigation into the Memorial Drive incident is ongoing.

Boston Police report finding a woman with severe head trauma around 4:45 a.m. at River and Rosa streets. She was taken to Boston Medical Center, where she was declared dead.

Police say they're looking a black Jeep Liberty that raced toward Cleary Square without stopping. It has a black wheel cover with red and blue lettering.
