The Christmas Revels, held annually in Harvard's Sanders Theatre, usually continue for several days after Christmas. This year, the show was scheduled to close on December 29. Instead, tomorrow's performances will be the final ones for 2021:

Regrettably, and with the safety of our cast, crew, and audience in mind, Revels has made the difficult decision to cancel our six post-Christmas performances (Dec 26 – Dec 29). We encourage you to join us virtually for our extended run, streaming December 30 – January 9.

The production company currently filming the new Boston Strangler movie is telling neighbors of the empty shell where Doyle's used to be that they'll be shooting a scene there on Jan. 6, between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Read more.

New England Sounds reports a particularly frenetic crowd surfer at the recent Candy show at the Middle East Downstairs in Cambridge managed to kick out a ceiling sprinkler pipe that flooded the venue until Cambridge firefighters arrived to turn off the water. Read more.

Hush Crew is a group of local, mostly Asian-Americans who like to dance in public to K-pop. The other day, they were at Summer and Washington street, dancing. Between sets, they wore masks. And that really set some random guy off, to the point where he started calling them communists and tried to pull the mask off one of them. Read more.

A Honk band

In the Before Times, activist brass bands from all over the place would join up for a parade from Somerville to Harvard Square. This year, Honk was more spread out - across Somerville, Cambridge and Boston. Greg Cook caught some of the performances yesterday.

Update: Licensing Board found the club had adequate staffing and could not have foreseen the problem, so no violation.

The owners of Macumba Latina on River Street in Mattapan say they have stopped Thursday-night events that were heavily promoted in Brockton following a July incident in which River Street was shut by knots of people throwing punches at each other. Read more.

The Boston Licensing Board today approved a request by the owners of the former Bella Luna and the current Haven for a liquor license with which to re-open the Bella Luna space at the Brewery complex on Amory Street - if it turns out the board has one to dole out. Read more.

Live Boston reports that a body was found in a movie trailer at a BCEC parking lot on Cypher Street behind the convention center around 5:30 a.m.

The trailers are possibly for "Spirited," a musical version of "A Christmas Carol" being filmed downtown.

City licensing head Kathleen Joyce is considering cutting back closing time at Savvor, 180 Lincoln St. - and could even revoke its entertainment license - over a string of late-night incidents that the local police captain says is draining his resources when he's already got the Theater District and Faneuil Hall Marketplace to worry about. Snow Devonshire Street made to look like a New York street

Jonathan Berk captured the spirit of the season on Devonshire Street, made to look like New York for the Ryan Reynolds/Will Ferrell musical "Christmas Carol" remake. They did a good job: Nobody was yelling "Yankees suck!"

Somerville Theatre re-opens

The Somerville Theatre ran its projectors for the public tonight for the first time since it shut in March, 2020. Our own Ron Newman was there for re-opening night. He saw Last Night in Rozzie.

Boston street gets Scrooged

A roving UHub videographer managed to snag a bit of video yesterday of Will Ferrell as a ghost counseling Ryan Reynolds as Scrooge on Marshall Street downtown (that cobblestoned alley near the Union Oyster House0 for "Spirited," a musical telling of Dickens's Christmas classic.
