Venerable Roslindale restaurant to play role in Whitney Houston biopic
The Pleasant Cafe on Washington Street tomorrow will stand in for a restaurant important in the life of singer Whitney Houston, according to notices to neighbors.
The production crew will, of course, use the restaurant's parking lot across the street for all those trailers and equipment and stuf during the filming, which is scheduled sometime between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.
A house on Cornell Street between Washington and Walworth streets will also be used for the filming.
In 2008, Bradfield Street played a role in a Mel Gibson movie, "Edge of Darkness," although one resident refused to let the crew use his house for lighting because of Gibson's anti-Semitism.
H/t Sarah.

Pizza, anyone?
Hopefully the cast and crew will order up some of Roslindale's best eating while they're there. That's a movie I would never go see, and now I'll have to, for sure.
One of the best
Ever since I was a wee little lad...
Every visitor to Boston I try to get them the pizza.
Top #5 in Boston.
Also try Mario's on Humboldt Ave
"I Wanna Dance With Somebody"
"I Wanna Dance With Somebody" could have filmed in Newark and East Orange, where Whitney actually grew up, and in the process supported Black owned businesses. But no, let the Pleasant Cafe step in, which has absolutely no connection.
I Wanna Dance With Somebody
Whitney loved hot dogs growing up. She would always go this restaurant in Jersey every week and order the Italian hot dog with onions and peppers and all the works! So I'm glad they are making this film as authentic as possible.
