Some Big Dig leadership there, Mitty

John Daley is flabbergasted that Mitt Romney vetoed funding to cover Big Dig ramps with parks and cultural facilities:

... By vetoing the money for covering the ramps through the Greenway, he is negating an important original objective of the Big Dig, a project that we've already paid for many times over, both in tax money and inconvenience. So now in addition to getting gouged we're going to rewind back to 1990 and just have to accept an eyesore running through the center of the city? ...

The Outraged Liberal, though, says the veto makes perfect sense when viewed in the context of Romney's decision to use Massachusetts as a prop in his 2008 presidential campaign:

... So Mitt has clearly taken two stands designed to make him look good to national audiences -- trying to rein in the Big Dig monster and toeing the line in keeping wage earners in their place. Count on those issues being in his campaign commercials. ...
