Harvard University yesterday told students and staff at its Cambridge and Boston campuses that it's banned all school-related international travel and "non-essential domestic travel" due to Covid-19 concerrns - and that it might be a good idea to cancel any on-campus meetings of 100 people or more, although lecture classes will go on as usual. The FBI has released a wanted poster for Yanqing Ye, 29, a lieutenant in the Chinese People's Liberation Army, who is charged with conducting espionage while on a visa to study at Boston University, although it's unlikely anyone spotting her photos on a post-office wall will turn her in since she's been back in China since last spring. The Daily Free Press reports growing numbers of BU students are using scooters - most of them non-electric - to get from A to B on the elongated BU campus; quotes a BU official as saying there's only so much they can do to keep scootin' scholars from getting flattened on public roads in a city with no formal scooter regulations.

UPDATE: WBUR reports police found an Airsoft pellet gun, but no suspect.

A search for a man spotted with what might have been a gun near Landmark Center around 1:20 p.m. turned into a massive police search through Kenmore Square after he was spotted running into an inbound Green Line tunnel. Read more.

Boston University has filed plans with the BPDA for its proposed 19-story data-sciences building, to house the school's computer sciences and mathematics and statistics departments, along with an interdisciplinary center that combines the two.

The building, which would go up on what is now a parking lot on Commonwealth Avenue at Granby Street, was designed to foster fields of study that now permeate pretty much everything the university now teaches, BU says: Read more.

Samson Donick, 22, today pleaded guilty to indecent assault and battery (reduced from aggravated rape), assault and battery (reduced from indecent assault and battery), and breaking and entering in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony (reduced from breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony), in exchange for a sentence in which he avoids any prison time for a 2015 sexual attack on a BU student in her dorm room, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. The Globe reports a woman raped in her BU dorm doesn't want to go through the trauma of testifying against her alleged attacker, at the time an MIT student, and so prosecutors have worked out a plea deal in which he would admit to the lesser charge of assault and battery and publicly apologize.

Only problem for Samson Donick is that the judge in the case is so shocked she might order him to graphically detail just what he did, which could potentially force him to admit to being a sex offender.
