MassDOT tweets the tunnel will be closed from 9 p.m. Sunday through 5 a.m. Monday to allow inspectors to examine all the wall panels to make sure no more will simply fall off, like one did last night. The Globe reports the inspection is pretty basic: Workers will yank on every single panel; any that are loose will be replaced.

This year, the Globe named Olympians Aly Raisman of Needham and Kayla Harrison of Marblehead as its "Bostonians of the Year." Both are outstanding athletes and, no doubt, role models for us all, but Raisman lives in Needham and Harrison comes from Marblehead.

Mayor Menino plans to ask the state legislature for permission to eliminate the current limit on BPS charter schools - which could mean ceding day-to-day operations to private non-profit groups - and give them the right to serve only particular zones, rather than having to accept students from across the city.

The Boston Public Health Commission says now would be a good time to get a flu shot - because the flu is beginning its annual winter surge in Boston. Figures released today for the week ending Dec. 15 show the rate of emergency-room visits for flu-like symptoms is now at its highest level since March, 2011.

The Boston Business Journal reports the winner of bidding for four of the ten closed Upper Crust pizza places is a group working with Jordan Tobins, the co-founder of the chain who was kicked out by the other owners as the whole thing was falling apart. Pizzeria Regina got first dibs on the chain's former Fenway location.

The Dorchester Reporter provides the blow-by-blow of a blowup over diversity in city government between Councilor Charles Yancey (Dorchester) and city attorney William Sinnott:

The back-and-forth between Yancey and Sinnott and shouts from audience members caused a City Council administrative staffer to call the municipal police force, which sent several officers up to the fifth floor to check in on the hearing.
