Patriots fans at 9 a.m. on Boylston Street

Crowds of Patriots fans - and college students - are on the Common, Newbury Street in the Back Bay, Boylston Street and Park Drive in the Fenway and by Faneuil Hall, celebrating the Super Bowl win. Police report they are loud but well mannered.

Police did have to get onto the train tracks by Ipswich and Charlesgate to escort a guy who tried running across the tracks, except he tripped.

Wanted for lipstick crime

Boston Police are looking for a woman they say stole $1,100 worth of lipstick from the Sephora store at 1325 Boylston St. on Jan. 11.

If BU and Northeastern have Green Line stops named for them, why not Emerson? Three students in a civic design and art class at Emerson have collected more than 700 names on an online petition urging the T to rename the Boylston stop as Emerson College. Read more.

The Boston Business Journal reports on plans by a local restaurant group to open a French restaurant at the Grand Masonic Lodge at Boylston and Tremont streets, which is currently adorned by a large seal featuring two beavers that look like they're trying to eat a dove.

Boston and Transit Police are looking for a group of teens who rushed out of the Apple Store with a dozen iPhones this afternoon. The group consisted of both males and females, mostly in hoodies, one black, one red, one green.

The Santander Bank branch at 575 Boylston St. was held up around 2:40 p.m. by a black man, mid-30s, 5'8" and 180 lbs., in a tan cap. He showed a note, said he had a gun, but didn't show one, stuffed the cash in his pants, then ran down Boylston Street towards Dartmouth Street.

The branch was also held up last month.

The FBI's Bank Robbery Task Force has posted photos of the man it says held up the Santander Bank branch at 575 Boylston St. on Sept. 6.

He gave the teller a note, then ran towards Dartmouth Street after getting money.

Boston Police officials said today an internal-affairs investigation into a widely publicized May incident involving a man and an off-duty cop whose car he swatted with an umbrella showed the police officer did nothing wrong; in fact, he did everything he was trained to do after an apparent felony.
