As tourist-oriented as the Boston area is, it might not have enough hotel rooms to handle the crush of spectators, media types and various hangers on who would flood into town for the Olympics. Boston 2024 has an answer:

You know all those students who normally sublet their apartments in the summer? Boston 2024 would try to convince landlords to offer them only nine-month leases for 2023-2024 - which would leave the apartments clear for renting out to Olympics visitors at a premium that summer. But don't worry: The group is proposing some short-term rent control to ensure spectators aren't gouged, well, not too much.

In the last day or so, all the news boxes have mysteriously disappeared from my namesake neighborhood, around Mass. and Huntington. No more Improper Bostonian, no more South End News, no more Bay Windows, all banished from their convenient locations by Symphony Hall, in front of Whole Foods, and near the Green Line entrances.

The Boston Licensing Board yesterday gave Wahlburgers permission to spend $325,000 for the liquor license of the old Goody Glover's in the North End for its impending burger joint at 132 Brookline Ave.

WBZ reports on the suit, filed in Suffolk Superior Court, which charges the elevator door was already loose when Elisabeth Scott brushed against it, lost her balance and fell two stories onto the top of an elevator, suffering major brain injuries.

In an August hearing, city officials said they did not know why the door opened.

There are two of these. They guarded a parklet. Said parklet has begun its winter hibernation but his two friends remain. I just talked to his two friends and they'd like to join Mr. parklet in hibernating before they get snowed on as currently they just block parking spaces.

The Boston Licensing Board decides today whether to let the Domino's at 1260 Boylston St. extend its delivery time from 3 to 4 a.m.

William Mohan, director of licensing for Domino's in Boston, started a hearing today by welcoming the all new Boston Licensing Board and declaring how happy he was that Mayor Walsh's statement on his purge of the old board members said the new board was part of new push toward economic opportunity across the city.

With the Muddy River rising fast, around 5:20 p.m., the MBTA shut the Riverside Line between Kenmore and Fenway and workers rushed to the portal just past Fenway to begin laying sandbags to keep the Muddy out of the Green Line, in two separate temporary dams.

Around 6:30 p.m., the Muddy River reached 16.4 feet - 1.4 feet above the flood stage at which its waters might begin pouring into the portal:

The Hub reports a Simmons College student was grabbed from behind around 11:45 p.m. on Sunday in the Fens near Clemente Field.

She managed to break away from the attacker by screaming and struggling, causing him to flee the scene.

A DCR worker discovered a man's body in the Muddy River in the area of the Bowker overpass around 10 a.m. today, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

A tentative identification has been made based on a missing-person's report, the DA's office says, adding foul play does not appear to have been involved.

It's the same general location where bodies were found in June and March.

Fire at Park Drive and Beacon Street in Boston

The Boston Fire Department reports a four-alarm fire at 877 Beacon St. early this morning did an estimated $3 million in damage, forced the evacuation of residents of neighboring buildings and injured two firefighters.

Firefighters responded at 1:25 a.m. to the building, which housed offices, not apartments. The department says that while residents were evacuated - MBTA buses were brought in to give them shelter - firewalls between the buildings held, preventing the fire from spreading. Residents were allowed back in around 4:30 a.m.

MIT reports both it and the Lambda Chi Alpha national fraternity have banned the local chapter, Lambda Zeta, 99 Bay State Rd. in Boston, for five years for "conduct that does not support the fraternity’s priority of providing a healthy chapter environment for its members."

The MBTA holds a meeting Thursday on a proposal to "consolidate the BU West, St. Paul, Babcock, and Pleasant stops into two fully accessible stations that will help reduce travel times and improve safety."

The session begins at 6 p.m. in the Commonwealth Salon room at the BPL main library in Copley Square.

UPDATE: After shutting off the gas to the entire building, National Grid said residents - many Northeastern students - could return inside, but that they won't have any gas until after repairs are made tomorrow.

204 Hemenway St., around 9:45 p.m. Both Boston Fire and National Grid teams are on scene.
