Workers have begun demolishing the top floor of what had been the nearly complete Treadmark Building on Dorchester Avenue so they can replace it. The company estimates the demolition will take a couple of weeks.

BFD Commissioner Joseph Finn said this morning that a key part of the investigation into the multi-alarm fire that heavily damaged a residential building nearing completion is whether the sprinkler system failed or wasn't turned on. Read more.

The T says service was pretty durn good on the four subway lines thanks to all the investments in things like new third rails and plows and dispatch centers.

So far this morning, the T has reported Red Line problems that include dead trains at South Station and near Ashmont, signal and switch problems on the Braintree branch and at Park Street. Green Line trolleys ran even slower than usual on the C line.

But as of 9:50 a.m., the T says everything's back to normal.

The Zoning Board of Appeals this morning approved a developer's plans to replace a single-family home on Fuller Street near Dorchester Avenue with a three-story building with six apartments.

Bus stopped in middle of Dorchester Avenue in Ashmont

Welcome to Dot reports northbound traffic on Dot. Ave. came to a complete halt in Ashmont thanks to this stupid bus driver - except for the occasional driver who tried swinging round and driving on the other side of the street.

Anxious ad on the MBTA Orange Line

Only when wondering if the Orange Line will get me to work on time ...

Forest Hills became the end of the line in more ways than one for one Orange Line train. Also, a Mattapan trolley exhaled its last at Ashmont. The T reports both lines are now moving again.
