Bus in West Roxbury

A T bus on Centre Street in West Roxbury is hardly unusual. But this bus was parked outside the Gormley Funeral Home, its signboard alternating between "John Linso #6808" and "Rest in Peace."

Linso, 52, of West Roxbury, was a 28-year MBTA employee. He died last Thursday. Visiting hours are today.

320 Cafe coming soon to Spring Street in West Roxbury

Joseph Adamo, a chef with more than 20 years experience at restaurants in Europe and the US, is looking to turn the old Spring Street Cafe on Spring Street at VFW Parkway into a new place called 320 Cafe, possibly in time for a fall opening. Read more.

The bagel hole in West Roxbury left by the closing of Panera in 2015 is getting closer to being filled, with "Coming Soon" signs sprouting at 1727 Centre St. for Local 338, which promises "New York style bagels" and organic gourmet coffee in the spot that was briefly a pizza/froyo place that replaced the Upper Crust that used to be there. New Roche Bros.

You can't beat their meat. Rendering from Roche Bros.

Roche Bros. has begun a redo of its Centre Street store to make it more like its trendier Downtown Crossing store - with more prepared-food and seafood options and a floral area right off the main entrance, rather than a few rows in.

Already, the bottle and can return has been temporarily moved outside and the bakery, flowers and customer service moved to temporary areas to make way for the renovations: Read more.

Emergency responders rushed to Lagrange Street and Fernwood Road in West Roxbury around 4:50 p.m. after a 34-year-old man suffered major burns on his legs, arms and back at 300 Lagrange St. BPD detectives are on scene and the house has been taped off for their investigation.

WBZ reports investigators believe the man set himself on fire and that fireworks are not suspected.

Lagrange Street was shut.
