Blue Line car spotted on 95

I saw an amazing sight while driving down 95 South, near Burlington. Coming down 95 North was a Blue Line subway car! It took me a minute to realize that it was being hauled by a truck. Who knew that the blue line cars would ever appear on route 95?

I've seen a couple of them on flatbed trucks going eastbound on the Mass Pike, a couple of mornings over the past few months, too.

... to see trains where you don't expect them.

I remember being a teenager, hanging on the Central Avenue bridge in Lower Mills - blowing a joint with my juvenile delinquent buddies - and seeing a flatbed go by on River Street with a Red Line train on it.

Far out, man.

Burlington is one of the few towns in Eastern Massachusetts never to have had a railroad running through it. Though it did have a streetcar line that ran up Winn, Center and Cambridge streets from about 1900-1921...
