Word on the Twitter-o-sphere is that Robinson has roving bands of bagpipers assaulting serenading commuters at both North and South Station this morning.

I'm rooting for Robinson in the GOP primary. If we're going to have a token Republican in the race, why not have one who, instead of worrying about a future career in politics, will at least make it entertaining?

Being unenrolled, I opted for the R ballot and gave Robinson a vote. He'd be fun.

Nobody else there this morning in Watertown when MY WIFE and I voted. She took the D ballot, by the way. I don't want to divulge her vote without her permission. I'll just say she voted for someone whose name ends in a vowel ;-)

and sometimes Y!

We needed two more candidates to round out all the vowels.

I was thinking about voting for a Republican whose name ends in N and also contains a B an R and an O but decided to cast this vote in the Democratic race. The debates should be interesting - Brown looked and sounded the part on WGBH last night, not that I think he will win given the preponderance of people with an allergy to the letter R in Mass.

I spent a couple hours this morning at the polls for Alan Khazei. While there were not many people were voting, it was great to see so many Khazei supporters. If you are undecided, please visit http://www.alanforsenate.com/ to learn more about why Alan can be such a wonderful leader in the Senate for Massachusetts and our nation.

Three times as many people had voted at my precinct when I got there than they did at the same time in last month's election (150 vs 50).

saw two other voters.

this was around 10 AM, mind you.

If it is correct that the number appearing on the voting machine is the number of ballots counted, I was the 67th voter in my precinct at 8:15 a.m. Seemed much less busy than last election. There was NO ONE outside holding signs.

I was the only person voting when I went this morning at about 8:30, in Waltham.

With the same caveat that HumdrumPG articulated, we would have been numbers 85 and 86 at our station in Brookline (7:45 a.m.). I didn't think that that number was too bad considering that the precinct is mostly single family homes (low voter density).

We were nos. 23 & 24 at 8:00--not bad, when we were expecting to be more like 5 & 6. Only one sign-holder, for Robinson.

Worked a desk for the neighborhood assn at BPL this morning - very steady stream from 7 am to about 8:15 am when I left - but no lines even at opening.

About 900 people had voted across 3 precincts at the Copley BPL by 5 pm. Almost exactly 90 per hour.

At noon, I was voter 139 for Ward 20 Precinct 12 (Patrick Lyndon School in W. Roxbury). I believe this is similar to the number during the previous election (which is a lot more than I expected).

I brought The Ethos of Noh and several cryptic puzzles. Down at the bottom of Fairmount Hill in HP, we have about one third the volume we did in November.

Looks interesting. Did you see the Noh performance here in Boston last year (or thereabouts?)

Can I borrow it after you're done with reading it?

No support for anyone at West Roxbury BPL. Maybe two other voters.

Some abandoned, unloved signs outside.

I was vote number 257 around 1:30.

Jon Keller and WBZ are tweeting that "City of Boston reports 9.8% voter turnout for US Senate primary as of 3pm. Gack! Horrible!" (I assume the commentary is Keller's...)

Which means that Boston will probably hit 10% at least when polls close. Not great, but I think people were predicting abysmal, single-digit turnout.

It was very quiet at the Beethoven, at 4:30, 3-4 other voters, but the woman working there said it was the busiest precinct in the city (Ward 20/Precinct 15) - 295 voters as-of 4:30.

If you didn't know there was a polling place there, you wouldn't have guessed by looking at it - no signs on the closed door directing you to the polls, and only a couple of small candidate signs on the fence outside.

Why wasnt this election done at the same time as the mayor election?

I voted at 3:30pm at fenway high school. In and out in 3 minutes. The students sure looked thuggier than they did last time I voted. Perhaps it's the winter coats?

It was a ghost town at the Jack Satter House on Revere Beach at 5 p.m., but for the elderly residents of the complex who were busily drinking all the coffee and blocking the doorways with their walkers. (And I say that with affection.)

The entrance to our polling place is in a parking lot, not on the street. When we got there, a Khazei woman had parked herself right outside the entrance, with a large sign. AND her car was parked right there, too. I told her there was a 150-foot limit and she should move. She sarcastically thanked me and moved - about five feet.

The only campaign presence was a young woman supporting Khazei -- she seemed a bit over-assertive (but pleasant).

Maybe she got grumpier by the time we got there.
