City, firefighters reach a deal
By adamg on Tue, 06/08/2010 - 11:31pm
The Globe reports on a breakthrough following eight hours of negotiations involving three city councilors as mediators. The Globe's Donovan Slack tweets the deal calls for a 1.5% drug-testing pay raise (an arbitration panel had awarded 2.5%) that will only apply to current firefighters.

funny i read something in the
funny i read something in the globe that said connolly and ciomo sent out a press release touting their work, but according to kelly, it was arroyo, tobin and linehan. these politicans always try to get the credit.
Ciommo and Connolly proposed the new negotiations
I'm watching Ed Kelly on Channel 51 thanking Linehan, Tobin and Arroyo for helping the union figure out how to go forward.
Win-win for everyone!
Did the Mayor lose this?
Adam, what's your take? Did the Mayor lose this one? I am guessing he did because the BFD gave up little. I think the Mayor would have fought for more concessions, but that all changed when his all of labor jumped on his back, including his bestest and closest friend Lou Mandarini.
council barred from getting involved in collective bargaining?
isn't the council barred from getting involved in collective bargaining...thought i heard that somewhere...
