Oh, if only this were 1974, the answer would be easy: Radio Shack! Alas, time marches on, and now a hobbyist needs help in getting his tubes tested.

I doubt RS had a proper tube
I doubt RS had a proper tube tester in 1974 - probably just an "is it totally blown" tester. With the price of tubes today, I doubt it's worth his effort.
Anyone who wants a box of NOS 5V6s, let me know.
