Green Line goes off the rails near Kenmore

It's a mess on the Green Line tonight due to a "minor derailment" of an outbound trolley between Hynes and Kenmore.

MBTA spokeswoman Lydia Rivera says trolley 3602 derailed around 6:15 p.m. after leaving Hynes. No injuries were reported and passengers were evacuated through the tunnel to Kenmore, Rivera says, adding the T hopes to have repairs made by 8:15 p.m. In the meantime, it's shuttle buses between Kenmore and Copley in both directions.

Scott Madin reports:

Just sat on a C train between Hynes and Kenmore for half an hour before being evacuated & walked down the tunnel to Kenmore

Chris Girard reports:

Fiancee just spent 30min between Copley & Hynes b/c of "switch problem." MBTA had passengers walk through tunnel to Hynes.

He adds she didn't have any more luck with buses:

Fiancee then walked from Hynes to Kenmore to take 57 Bus to Allston, but that bus was rerouted to Copley to be a shuttle

Catherine Himberg reports T workers and announcements were telling passengers delays were due to a signal problem:

Signal issue is unfortunate, even more so is the girl saying "we're underground, who cares about the traffic lights above ground!"

At least the Sox are in Tampa.

Some moron late for the Beacon Street cardgame who tried to jump the signal before the switch leading into Kenmore was fully set?

That's where my five $$$$$ are at.

Regular service on the C and the D resumed around 8:30 PM, B line still shuttle buses between Kenmore and Blandford St. at that time because the outbound switch just before Kenmore needs more repair work and can only be set up for the track used by the C and D lines. The car derailed on this switch.

Someone else has suggested it; the MBTA should sell late night tours of the tunnels. I'd pay for one. As long as it was after hours, and they hadn't trapped me on a train first, of course. Yeah, I can be picky that way...(Bonus; when they do have to evacuate me, I'll know the way!)

Saturday evening had what appeared to be a dead outbound train at Copley around 6:30 pm that resulted in shuttle buses running between Kenmore and Copley, too.

Who'll wager that tonight will be the third night in a row?
