Numerous cars smashed into overnight in Uphams Corner area

Boston Police report at least ten cars had their windows smashed and their contents rummaged through on Magnolia, Greenheys, East Cottage, Clifton, and Holden streets overnight.

But shouldn't the headline read "broken into"? When I see "smashed into", I think car crash, not B&E.

And maybe I'm used to car break-ins in places like West Roxbury, where thieves just walk down streets trying door handles, whereas using a rock (or whatever it was that was actually used) to smash in windows seemed to need a stronger phrase than "break in."

About 10 cars on Auckland St in Savin Hill too.
Wonder if a glass company needs business.
