Gosh, can't imagine why this book would be on a bargain rack at a Massachusetts bookstore

Texas constitution for sale in Massachusetts

Spotted on a 50℅-off rack at the Walpole Barnes & Noble yesterday.

How about The Pocket Calorie Counter? Can you think of a reason why that one might be?

Think it has something to do with the Packers beating the Cowboys? You didnt like Tales of Texas Ranger? You dont remember the Alamo? What do you mean exactly?

Why would anybody here want a copy of the Texas constitution? But if you're that one person, I'll save you the trip to Walpole. Click this link.

Without asking the book tells you that it can split into 5 smaller yet still really big books to show you Yankee libeerrals how its done.

Does anyone know if there is a section about the basement of the Alamo?

I haven't seen the book, so I have no idea whether those are modern documents or not. But I feel I should remind folks that Texas does have a legitimate constitution, just like Massachusetts; it's actually had several. And, in 1836, Texas did declare independence from Mexico.d

Not sure whether facts have much to do with this discussion (it is the internet, after all), but there you are.

Massachusetts not only has a constitution that predates the U.S. Constitution by several years, but it also has a much better track record on basic human rights having allowed slaves to sue for their freedom (and damages!) in 1781 and guaranteeing marriage equality in 2003.

Thanks John Adams!

and Austin is so "progressive' it puts Boston to shame.

BTW:

All big Texas cities...Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, etc. are Democratic controlled.

Remind me of what happened to Houston's human-rights ordinance.

It's not so many once you have divided them up between the thousand islands.

With Amazon, Kindle, public libraries etc. the entire bookstore will be on the bargain rack soon. They'll be going the way of the video store shortly. Poor ordering skills if they thought the Texas Constitution would sell here. There's a Texas Roadhouse in Walpole, I wonder if some Barnes and Noble algorithm sent it there.

Can you bring us up to speed on the impact, if any, that the iPhone may have on communications while you are at it?

Don't know how B&N is doing, but independent bookstores are doing quite well.
