Girls claim two guys tried to abduct them in Roxbury

Boston Police report they are looking for two guys for an incident around 9 p.m. on Thursday:

On arrival, the officers spoke with two victims, two girls ages 12 and 14. The victims stated that while walking on McGreevey Way they were approached by two suspects. One victim stated the suspect (operator of the motor vehicle) made threatening and sexual comments in an apparent attempt to lure the victims while banging the handle of a large knife on the outside of the driver's door. The victims, still walking on McGreevey Way, ran to a neighbor’s house for help. The victims then stated that the suspects drove down McGreevey Way towards Parker Street, taking a right onto Parker Street and from there directions unknown

Police described one suspect as a light-skinned Hispanic, about 20, wearing a white and red hat, a black jacket and carrying a knife with a black handle. The other was described as a dark-skinned black male, about 20, wearing a black hat and black jacket.

Ed. note: I hate to be skeptical, but ...

The details from the linked police report raise questions.

Banging a knife on the outdoor of the car door isn't in the Smart Perp's Handbook of "luring" someone into a car.

And what about the snow-covered license plate? (I'm out of town right now, so I don't know how plausible that might be. Was there another snowfall this week?)

The girls do know their cars: older Honda Accord.

On the other hand, what is the girls' motivation to make up a story like this?

Very plausible: some areas got over a foot of snow on Saturday and Sunday, and it only got above freezing on Friday - for a brief shining afternoon.

The rest? Hard to say. It does need to be checked into, on both sides. It doesn't sound like they were either detained or late to anything they would have gotten in trouble for like the kid who was late to school.
