Third teen this week arrested on armed-robbery charges in South Boston, police say

Boston Police report arresting a teenager Thursday for the armed holdup of a delivery person at 40 West 7th St. in the West Broadway development around 8:50 p.m. on Feb. 25.

Police say officers found the 16-year-old, who had a warrant for armed robbery with a firearm, a few doors down, at 28 West 7th St.

Police, who report a series of armed holdups in South Boston in recent weeks, had earlier reported arresting two other teens in Andrew Square on armed-robbery charges.

Police say an officer on patrol spotted two teens whose descriptions had been broadcast in relation to robberies, on Dorchester Avenue in Andrew Square [around 10:220 a.m.]. He got out of his cruiser and the two ran, police say:

The officer observed one of the individuals discard a firearm inside Andrew Square T Station. The officer continued the foot pursuit, and apprehended the suspect in the area of Boston Street and Ellery Street. The recovered firearm was later determined to be a Smith and Wesson M&P with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine.

The teen was charged with being delinquent for illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition, police say. Later that day, around 4 p.m., police say, officers who had watched surveillance video of the second suspect's flight responded to 1 Ellery St., where they found the "Taurus Firearm with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine" the 17-year-old had tried to hide there.

They then went to his apartment and arrested him on charges of being delinquent for illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and possession of a large-capacity feeding device, police say.

None of the teens' names were released due to their age.
