Maverick vs. Courthouse

... The Maverick Station in East Boston that has a thousand times more use and serves the local public on a daily basis, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Now it has apparently been put on the back burner as the under funded, poor quality of materials and lack of oversight and caring of our local publicly elected officials should be in the spotlight. ...

...what would help my blood pressure is if people there learned to use the escalators. Walk on the left, ride on the right, people. The rest of the civilized world has figured this out.

Amen. I spend a week in Toronto every fall, and they have signage on most escalators reminding folks of this rule. It helps hugely.

To be fair, Boston escalators are often too narrow to accommodate two "lanes" of traffic. I don't know if the Maverick escalators fall in that category, but in many cases, even if folks do stand well over to the right there's not enough room for someone walking to pass on the left without pushing.

Everywhere I've ever been, most people don't know how to use escalators. 90% or more of the population just climbs on and parks it. Escalators (and moving sidewalks) were meant to increase our ambulatory efficiency, not turn us into cattle.

...for the rest of the construction? They have a giant pit where the old entrance was and all the improvements they were required to make to Maverick Square so that the construction could occur. Between the MBTA and MassPort, Eastie is getting the wrong end of every deal..
