Mass. High Tech reports that BigBelly Solar of Needham, which makes those solar-powered trash receptacles you can see around the more heavily traveled sections of Boston, has raised a bunch of equity capital.

Good on them!
They have a product that is attractive, interesing enough to get people to actually use it, energy efficient, reduces expenses by reducing pick-ups, doesn't overflow, keeps out critters ... and is nifty too!
I'm glad that much design win means more money for them. Now if they had some options available to create nifty external designs and have it make solar-powered munching sounds, they could go Disney with it! (inspiration: the can-munching Alcoa goat at the Spokane World's Fair).
