Man shot in the head in Dorchester, dead

Updated Monday afternoon.

Boston Police report a man was shot repeatedly around 9:20 p.m. outside 4 Sumner St. He was transported to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

I was driving through Uphams Corner with some friends on the way back to the South End when it happened. We heard about five shots just as we were going through the intersection from Columbia Rd onto Mass Ave. We thought they were fireworks at first, but realized that they weren't because they were a bit slow in succession. By the time we got to the Southampton St cutoff around the Fire HQ, there was an ambulance headed that way.

going off until around 10:30 that night. Tough to hear the difference at a distance.
