Dorchester's long history with renewable energy

Charles Swift reports that Dorchester was the first town to use renewable energy, when a local merchant installed a water-powered mill in the Neponset River in 1633. The Dorchester Historical Society holds a conference on tidal mills past, present and future on Saturday, Nov. 4, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. To attend, contact society President Earl Taylor at (800) 663-6063.
