Boston Development discusses the planned 1 Kenmore project, which would mean two towers (one 20 stories, one 17) and three smaller buildings across the turnpike and on what are now parking lots:
... Estimated at around $400 million, the mixed-use development would bring many positives to the surrounding area. Some of the significant benefits are the addition of housing and valuable retail, easier access from Beacon Street to Fenway Park and an overall improvement of the MBTA Yawkey Station. ...

Awesome plan, add about
Awesome plan, add about another 1000 over-privileged idiots to the neighborhood, as if it isn't already crowded enough. the green line can't handle that, especially during the season, it will be more like riding a train in bangalore than it is now. block the skyline from the bridge with some hideous condos, the buyers of which should be punched in the neck.
Opposing view
Cover a highway and parking lots with new buildings? What's not to like?
correct view
The increase in traffic, the increase in Green Line riders, foot traffic between Lansdowne St. and the Square through Kenmore St., the loss of viewable horizon. But I'll take a $10,000 buy-out and stop my kvetching.
The proposed Rosenthal Paradise (I imagine he won't spring for a Stop Highrise Proliferation! billboard).
Btw, a man was stabbed yesterday afternoon in Kenmore Square station.
Who says they are all going downtown?
The green line issue is only an issue if all these folks are headed in the direction of rush hour. I'd bet that many of them would head outbound, on busses to Cambridge, or to the medical area, even if the T has yet to much recognize the existance of reverse commuting.
commuter math
All - many = the vast majority, so the inbound Green Line will still take a hit. Hell, I do the reverse commute but I still go inbound.
even correcterer
forget the foot traffic thing.
