The Zoning Board of Appeal this week approved a plan by the owner of the building housing JP Kitchen, 3510 Washington St., across from English High School, to add two duplex apartments on top. Read more.

Hatoff's, where gas is gas at 3440 Washington St. in Jamaica Plain, has filed plans with ISD to add eight more gas pumps - and opening access to them from Kenton Road. Read more.

A developer says it will soon file plans for eight condos in four buildings at 90 Allandale St. in Jamaica Plain, just up the road apiece from Boston's only free-range Scottish Highland bulls and across from the rear of Faulkner Hospital. Read more.

A Jamaica Plain man went on a weeks-long car-smashing rampage through Mission Hill, Jamaica Plain and Roxbury, using a tool designed to break car windows and packing some brass knuckles in case anybody tried to get in his way, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office charges. Read more.

Swanboat sections heading north past Jamaica Pond

Some Swan Boat sections made their way north on Pond Street by Jamaica Pond yesterday afternoon. The Swan Boats are scheduled to return to their leisurely tours of the Public Garden lagoon on Saturday.

Via the Jamaica Plain Facebook group comes word that the long vacant Il Panino space across Centre Street from the Jackson Square T station now has a sign advising it will soon become an outlet of Viva Mi Arepa, which has long served up Venezuelan food at Grove and Washington streets in West Roxbury, but whose continued existence there is possibly threatened by plans for a new apartment building.

A Suffolk Superior Court judge ruled today that the proposed $80-million renovation of White Stadium to support a professional women's soccer team would actually expand public access both to the stadium and nearby park areas and gave the city and the nascent soccer team permission to continue. Sam Montaño (D-15th Suffolk) hosted a meeting at English High School to talk about how to consider Boston Medical Center's plans to turn Shattuck Hospital into a large recovery center possibly featuring several hundred housing units in addition to a rebuilt hospital building.
