A Braintree train pulled into JFK/UMass and then just sat there because the doors refused to open. Finally, workers figured out how to get people off the train.

Around 11:45 p.m. in the parking lot of the liquor store at Hancock and Trull streets. When police arrived there was nobody there; the victims, a man and a woman, showed up not long after at Boston Medical Center.

In the lower torso and leg, around 4:35 p.m. at 43 Norton St., near Bowdoin. Due to the severity of his injuries, homicide detectives were called in, just in case.

A convicted drug dealer was indicted yesterday on charges he got New Hampshire drug addicts to buy guns for him, which he and an associate would then drive down to Boston to sell for drugs. Read more.

The Dorchester Reporter reports the man stabbed repeatedly in his South End apartment yesterday is Sheldon Lee, music director at Blessed Mother Teresa parish in Dorchester.

The man charged with stabbing him, his neighbor, David Eng, was held in lieu of $100,000 bail following his arraignment today in Boston Municipal Court, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

A woman was robbed at gunpoint around midnight at Savin Hill Avenue and Tuttle Street in Dorchester, only a couple of doors down from the house Mayor Walsh is getting ready to leave for a new home in Lower Mills.

The suspect was described as black, in his teens, about 5'8" and 200 lbs. He jumped into a black SUV that fled down Maryland Street.

Boston Police report a police officer doing a traffic detail at Dudley and Howard streets yesterday afternoon wound up arresting a man on gun and drug charges after he saw the guy "smoking marijuana while driving by him." Read more.

State Police report a cab driver who picked up a man and a woman in downtown Boston early this morning found himself stunned with a taser and his cab stolen from him on I-93 southbound near the Keystone Apartments. Read more.

Proposed South Bay expansion in Dorchester

The owners of the existing South Bay big-box mall this week filed plans with the BRA for a 10-acre extension that would feature a hotel, a movie theater, restaurants and shops in the sort of urbanish outdoor ambiance city dwellers now have to drive to Dedham, Foxboro or Somerville to experience. The latest stats from Boston Police are out: Through Aug. 2, 130 people have been shot in Boston, compared to 89 in the same period last year.

Gun-related murders, however, are down, from 26 to 15, which might reflect better medical care or worse shots or both. Read more.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury today acquitted Peter Carvalho of the shooting death of Shannon Richardson on Dudley Street on May 21, 2014, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

The jury rejected prosecutors' arguments that Carvalho shot his former friend Richardson while aiming at another man. Richardson suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

The Massachusetts Appeals Court ruled today that Suffolk County prosecutors can't use a bag of crack a man had in his mouth as evidence against him because Boston Police didn't have a good reason to stop him and force him to spit it out in the first place. Read more.

Boston Police are investigating two similar robberies tonight on Blue Hill Avenue in Dorchester and Mariposa Road in Mattapan.

Around 9 p.m., a man walking in front of 911 Blue Hill Ave. was robbed by two black teens, one of whom pulled out a shotgun or long rifle from his hoodie. That guy was described as 18, 5'9" and 220 lbs. and wearing dark shorts. His accomplice was 5'8" and 180 to 190 lbs. and wearing a dark top and dark shorts.

About 20 minutes later, two men were held up by two men, one armed with a shotgun or long rifle, at Mariposa and Sefton streets in Mattapan.

Around 7:10 p.m. at Harvard Street and Franklin Hill Avenue. The homicide unit was called in due to the severity of the victim's injuries.

A suspect is in custody.

Keita Freeman, 44, of Dorchester, received the sentence today after a Suffolk Superior Court jury found him guilty of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and witness intimidation, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

His girlfriend, Pamela Ferrie, 45, got two years probation for her role in trying to keep the victim from testifying, the DA's office says. Read more.
