Perkins Supply proposal on West Broadway in South Boston

The owner of Perkins Supply on West Broadway, where it turns into East Broadway, has filed plans to tear down the building and the neighboring Dunkin' Donuts and replace them with a five-story condo building with an underground garage and first-floor retail space. Read more.

Quincy bank robber with South Boston Pop Warner sweatshirt

Quincy Police report this guy robbed the Eastern Bank branch on Franklin Street around 8:50 a.m. As Bill Sheerin notes, that's a South Boston Pop Warner hoodie he's wearing. Read more.

Damaged Lego wall in South Boston

Last summer, Nate Swain "patched" a wall on Congress Street down from the Children's Museum with Lego bricks. A couple months later, somebody smashed it. Somebody fixed it. Now, Cynthia Donovan reports, somebody's smashed it again.

The FBI is on the hunt for a man they say robbed the East Boston Savings Bank branch at 708 E. Broadway around 8:45 a.m. on Friday.

He's described as 5'10" to 6' and between 180 and 200 lbs, with dark hair, dark eyes and a mole on his left cheek. Read more.

A developer who now owns the land where the Albanian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist burned down in 2013 has filed plans with the BRA for a five-story building housing 24 condominiums and street-level retail space. Read more.

Long-time South Boston residents are fighting a city edict to shorten this year's St. Patrick's Day parade - and vowing they will remember the mayor's role come next election.

In 1978, though, the roles were reversed: Parade organizers wanted to shorten the route but City Hall wouldn't let them. Read more.

City Hall apparently thinks last year's snow-shortened route for the St. Patrick's parade in South Boston worked so well it's ordering up another shortened parade this year as well, parade organizers say - a decision that is not sitting at all well with many people in the neighborhood.

Under orders from the mayor's office last week, the parade, which will still start at Broadway station, will end at Farragut Road, rather than swinging south and heading towards Andrew Square. Read more.

Wanted for South Boston bank robbery

UPDATE: Quincy man pleads guilty.

The FBI's Bank Robbery Task Force reports the East Boston Savings Bank branch at 430 W. Broadway was held up around 9:25 a.m. yesterday by a white man clad in black, about 6' and 190 to 200 lbs.

First meal of the season at Sullivan's, Castle Island

Die-hard Sullivan's fans were out in force this morning for the re-opening of the Castle Island institution. Eileen Murphy captured Matt Noonan and Charlotte Donovan of Quincy enjoying their first outdoor hot meal this year at Castle island.

For the fifth straight year, John Connors was first in line.

A commission set up to figure out how to honor former Mayor Ray Flynn says that in addition to renaming the Boston Marine Industrial Park after Flynn, the city should rename the Summer Street Bridge over the Reserved Channel as the Mayor Raymond L. Flynn Bridge. Read more.

BC High School in Dorchester, South Boston High School, East Boston High School, the South Bay jail and a location on Queensberry Street in the Fenway all got bomb threats around noon. Police have not ordered evacuations, but are sending bomb experts to the locations.

Meanwhile, Newton North High School has also gotten a call, as have schools in Cambridge, Randolph and, of course, Arlington.
