Read the lead story in the Globe today and you're left with the impression that the Globe is like: OMG, we just hired a crazy lady to run the T!

Richard Vetstein reports landlords are smokin' mad because the law passed by voters this week lets people with medical conditions grow a two-month supply of weed at home if they can't get to one of those dispensaries the law allows. Homegrown pot could mean mold, water damage, fires from improperly wired grow lights and even an increased risk of burglaries from thieves looking for a quick hit. And then there are the feds:

A federal appeals court ruled today Starbucks owes Massachusetts baristas more than $14 million for tips that were shared with supervisors between 2005 and 2011, because state law bars managers from dipping into the tip jar.

Starbucks tried to pour cold water on a class-action suit on behalf of more than 11,000 former and current baristas by arguing that "shift supervisors" weren't really managers because they mostly did the same work as baristas and so were entitled to the perk of sharing in pooled tips collected from customers.

Sometimes, Boston's cab drivers are telling the truth; the credit card machines don't work - and it's not their fault.

According to (Boston's own) Charles Pierce of Esquire, the Romney for President campaign shut off staffers' credit cards in the middle of the night on Tuesday, leaving the Boston crew scrambling for money.

Tom Menino called the Globe to say he's getting better even as he remains in the hospital.

The Supreme Judicial Court ruled today psychological evaluations of a prospective Boston police officer who passed a civil-service exam were too vague to keep her from donning a BPD uniform.

The ruling is a victory for both Jill Kavaleski, who was rejected three times by a pair of department psychiatrists, and the state Civil Service Commission, which had ruled those psychiatrists failed to show there was really anything wrong with Kavaleski. The ruling comes as a response to an appeal by the Boston Police Department of the commission's ruling.
