Walking Bostonian watched firefighters quickly douse flaming trash at Harvard and Brighton avenues this afternoon, reports they were met with a cacaphony of blaring horns from drivers incensed at being delayed on their normally speedy journeys through the intersection.

Sweet Kingdom, which plans to sell only "healthy" desserts made of fruits and light sugar, won approval today to stay open until 2 a.m. at 145 Harvard Ave.

At a hearing Wednesday, Boston Licensing Board Chairwoman Nicole Murati Ferrer expressed surprise that a dessert place would seek to stay open that late.

Our Lobster nightmare continues Hubby trying to get them into the pot WITHOUT touching them. Lol

Turns out the Allston couple scared of lobsters are real.

C, who makes up half the couple, posted the above video of her husband's attempts to cook the seabeasts (finally: in the pot). She reports this morning:

We received them as gifts. Personally, I knew up front I was scared of them but then I found out my husband was also scared and the drama started.

Lobsters in a pot

This is just so insane it might actually be true: An ad that popped up on Boston Craigslist yesterday sounded a scream for help, along with several photos of the menacing black bag:

HELP!!! LOBSTERS ARE SCARING US!!!! (Allston )

My husband and I have a few lobsters but we're both VERY scared of them. They're ugly and scary looking. They're in that bag, I tried to see if they'd fit in the pot - and was using a stick. I wish we could get a pic picture for you but they are alive moving and we're scared to open the bag.

Bus on Storrow Drive

Roving UHub photographer Adam Schnabel wasn't roving all that quickly around 5:55 p.m. today, thanks to the driver of the bus who at least managed not to get storrowed on the BU Bridge just up ahead.

The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for the capture of a man they say has robbed four banks since December, two in Allston/Brighton.

Plow on fire on the Massachusetts Turnpike

J. Alain Ferry was among those caught in a traffic jam on the Massachusetts Turnpike when a snow plow caught fire on the westbound side by the BU Bridge around 10:25 a.m.

Charlie MacSteven spotted the ultimate Masshole snow vehicle today on Comm. Ave. along BU. He counted 18 snowmen on the roof.

The Globe reports Tedeschi is taking over the space Kelly's vacated in 2011. Once it opens, the current Tedeschi, inconveniently located three doors down from the corner on the other side of Harvard, will close.

A man walking through Ringer Park shortly after 11 a.m. was surrounded by three young teens, one armed with a knife, who took his phone.

Knife boy was described as black, about 5'6" and wearing a bright-yellow jacket with a scarf over his face.

Transit and Boston Police are looking for the driver of a white mini-van or station wagon who managed to slam into both a trolley and a light pole there around 1:40 p.m., leaving behind a front bumper and taking out a traffic light before somehow disengaging from the mess and speeding down Comm. Ave. towards BC.

Around 9:25 p.m., somebody drove onto the B Line tracks at Brighton and Commonwealth avenues and then didn't move anymore.

Service is now halted until the T can get a tow truck to pull the car off the tracks.

Smashed cars in Allston

Walkingbostonian came across this smashup shortly before 11 p.m. at Comm. Ave. and Allston Street, on the outbound side.

Sup3rmark, who also snapped a photo, reports a 17-year-old driver took out three cars and an SUV. No injuries, he adds.
