Dropping like flies: Wellesley Brigham's to close

Wicked Local Wellesley reports.

Photo of the "Not Closing!" sign a few days ago.

Bonus fun fact: The guy who bought the chain to squeeze every last nickel out of it is getting his MBA at Babson.

Doesn't speak well of Babson's admissions screening process if this "individual" (a euphemism) is a current student.

I went in to the High Street Brigham's on October 30th to treat myself to a burger as I was having a very crappy day. I went to pay with credit and the waitress said "didn't you see the sign?" Their credit card machines weren't working and they didnt know why. (we all know why now...) I missed the sign. I said the the waitress, "take my license as collateral and I will be back with the cash in 2 minutes." THe waiterss said "don't worry hun, I believe you'll come back" so I ran over to the ATM and got the cash, came back and paid her. That kind of trust is just something you don't see much of these days.

It burns me to know that I went out of my way to hunt down cash for that asshole Mr. Cooper. I hope that those employees land on their feet somewhere soon.

Independently owned Brigham's stores still open in Hingham and Wollaston, but company-owned stores closed at South Shore Plaza in Braintree. Also closed in Brockton, and likely to close in Kingston.

Still open in North Andover, also independently owned.

Closed at Liberty Tree and North Shore malls.
