Can't even tell what exactly it is. It's like the Eskimo on the back of Alaska Airlines planes. Can't tell if it's an Eskimo or a bastardized version of Ronald Reagan.
The earnestness of it all makes me want to puke, but only a little. I am sure I would have thought it was SO profound when I was 25 so I get it. The old man me says bring back the cartoon hat with an arrow in it for the adorable goofiness and retroness of the thing.
I remember that when the de-arrowfication of the hat happened back in 1989 someone from Mass Turnpike was quoted as saying that in addition to the questionable PC-ness of the arrow, many motorists mistook it for a directional signal and it caused a good deal of confusion. Seems pretty far-fetched to me, but then again....
I remember back in the 1970's the Turnpike Authority removed the arrows from the Pilgrim hats on signs directing drivers to the Pike because people disregarded the directions on the signs and just went in whatever direction the hat arrow pointed.

It reminds me of Shepard Fairey's Andre the Giant "Obey" image, though it appears to be slightly different.
