"Manhole blown off with smoke pouring out," D. Matt Brothers reports.
I have to wonder.
some of these manhole covers get blown high and far. The old ones without the vent holes and slots sometimes got blown onto the rooftops of nearby buildings. Some of the old ones weighed over 200 pounds.
I always wondered why electrical manholes had slots, but it makes sense now, to let pressure out. I used to thing, "Man, that's stupid... why do you want water pouring down into an electrical manhole?" I suppose water will find its way in either way, but there's only one way to relieve pressure should an explosions occur.
"Sorry, gentlemen, the Pride Parade was yesterday."
