Total of ten arrested last night

The Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports all ten - arrested at four different spots along last night's protest marches - were arraigned in Boston Municipal Court today. Eight had their cases converted to civil infractions.

Edward and Addis Summerhill, both of Dorchester, however, requested that they go to trial on criminal charges of disorderly conduct, trespassing, and resisting arrest for marching on a Massachusetts Turnpike off-ramp and refusing to leave the roadway, the DA's office reports. They are next due in court on Feb. 23.

A Jamaica Plain man, also arrested on that off-ramp, agreed to the civil infraction idea and had a $200 fine levied.

Three women, from Roxbury, the South End and Dorchester, had $200 fines imposed for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after they allegedly tried to get through a gate at the State House.

A woman from the Back Bay was released without a fine on charges of disorderly conduct and trespassing for "blocking the stairs at Park Street station, screaming at officers, and refusing to leave the station."

Two women, one from Newton, one from Watertown, were charged with disturbing the peace and trespassing for blocking traffic at the Haymarket ramp to I-93. No fines.

I don't quite understand.

I understand the minor trespass charges being reduced or thrown out.

I don't understand why this guy wan't charged with criminal vandalism. Seems this is how pumkin riots, and Ferguson riots start.

I also wish O'Ryan hadn't used such passive voice in his tweet. Who took the kid off the car? Cops? Or fellow-protesters?

Maybe if riots actually started they would have charged the people. As it was it seems a tribute to both the protesters and BPD that things stayed as calm as they did considering the large crowds involved. The BPD wisely went with the non-confrontational approach in handling the event in person and online. Given how no riots started it seems like BPD is doing something right, at least compared to other cities.

handled it extraordinarily well. Staying calm is not always easy, but it's crucial for leo's to be able to do so.
