Another day, another school lockdown
By adamg on Tue, 12/11/2007 - 12:50pm
Today, it was Everett High School gettting the all-hands-on-deck media treatment.
Perhaps Cambridge Rindge and Latin administrators could explain what they're doing differently. According to Cambridge Police, back on 12/7:
State Police Dispatch Center received a call that there was a bomb at Cambridge Rindge and Latin and Somerville High. The school was evacuated and checked out and nothing was found. Students were out of class for only about 15 minutes.

Like the 10 Day Nail Clipper Suspension?
Yeah, like Cambridge Ringe and Latin, they could suspend a kid for 10 days for having a nail clipper in her purse when she arrived at a dance. It was found when she cooperated with a purse search at the door - but some reason kept them from just throwing it away like the TSA does. She needed to PAY. Can't have uppity nail-clipping girls ever going to college, now can we?
Of course they rescinded that when the media got involved.
As for Everett, well, I'm sure their was a reason for the delay. The superintendent of schools had to figure out how he could personally profit from the event before anything could be done - say, pay for a selected search team and take a cut of their wages? Have them all come work on his home security system while on the school payroll? Something like that.
Perhaps Everett doesn't want
Perhaps Everett doesn't want their news coverage to go away. Now that the fire thing is dying down, Everett has become addicted to excitement surrounding news worthy events and so they are finding other reasons to find themselves in the papes.
