Man charged as St. Marks robber in Dorchester

Boston Police report arresting Eric Valazquez, 47, for a housebreak at 11 Leslie St. on Tuesday and say he's a suspect in other recent housebreaks in the St. Marks Area of Dorchester.

On arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated that she was startled to find an individual (described as a black male in his forties with short, unkempt hair, wearing a black coat, blue jeans and black sneakers) in her home. Although she was able to scare the suspect away before police arrived, the victim stated she was confident she could identify the suspect if she had the opportunity to see him again.

When presented a photo array of potential suspects, the victim was able to positively identify Eric Valazquez as the individual who had broken into her home.

Police say gang-unit officers caught up with Valazquez Thursday evening at 270 Huntington Ave. in the Fenway and arrested him for the Leslie Street break in.

The investigation remains active as detectives work to further establish and better understand the suspect’s connection to four reported break-ins that occurred in the area of St. Marks Parish and the Shawmut Train Station in District C-11 (Dorchester) this month. As a result, anyone with information regarding the facts and circumstances surrounding these incidents is asked to contact Boston Police District C-11 Detectives at (617) 343-4581.
