Cambridge woman to face OUI charge after getting out of the hospital for injuries she suffered crashing into a stone wall, police say

Cambridge Police report a local woman suffered serious injuries in a crash on Sparks Street that also sent her passenger to the hospital early yesterday.

Police say the woman drove her car into a stone wall in front of a house on the street around 2:30 a.m. and that she will eventually have to report to court to face a charge of operating under the influence.

I thought it meant that she got out of the hospital for crashing her car and THEN got busted for a different OUI.

This was at the corner of Sparks Street and Huron Avenue. The vehicle was heading east on Huron, where there is a big curve, and instead went straight into the wall. I saw the damage the next morning when I went on a walk in our neighborhood.

About 25 or 30 years ago another car crashed at the same location. That time, the car was being chased by the police and ended up going into a tree in front of the same house. It was the middle of the afternoon. I heard the crash from 2 blocks away, in summer with the windows open.

After the earlier crash, the owners of the house erected the stone wall -- which was pretty much demolished in yesterday's crash. At least the wall kept the car from crashing into their house.

Brings up an interesting point; does anyone know how support groups for substance abuse are functioning at the moment? I could see the isolation and idleness being dangerous conditions for people battling addiction.
