Citizen complaint of the day: Fine, make Lincoln Street two way, but would it kill you to take down the one-way signs?
By adamg on Thu, 05/09/2024 - 12:03pm
A concerned citizen files a 311 complaint about Lincoln Street in Brighton, which the city recently changed from a one-way street to a two-way street between Portsmouth Street and Market Street/Birmingham Parkway.
The new two way street down on Lincoln street still has a “do not enter sign” from Leo Birmingham. Also I’d like to suggest a sign by Portsmouth indicating that it’s now two way traffic. It’s been a one way street between Portsmouth and Leo Birmingham for at least 30+ years.

BTD SNAFU
A few years ago, the BTD changes direction of two one-way streets in Allston - Royce Road and Gorham St. It changed the traffic into and out of Comm. Ave. Fine. It probably does help the flow.
However, what they didn't do was change the signage for which side of the street to park on.
Every one-way street with one side only parking has the driver door open to the street.
Because they didn't change the signage, drivers get in their cars from the sidewalk.
Guess what happens if you're a heavy-set driver. The door scrapes the sidewalk.
That's why you let your heavy-set passenger get in and out before you park.
All they had to do was move the signs to the other side of those two streets.
Stupid move. Lack of common sense on the part of BTD.
I appreciate the mini-headline
But of course, now I will have Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen racing around my brain for the rest of the day.
(sigh)
I miss the Commander.
but why
It was a Lincoln engine in a Model A body. Why isn't it a Hot Rod Model A?
Cool
Where was this the 18 years I lived in Brighton?
Unlike people who squawk about student loans, however, I'm happy for the existing residents who get to duck the asinine timing of the lights leading to Soldiers Field Rd/Western Ave.
