Third man convicted for role in murdering man trying to protect his girlfriend at Mass and Cass

A Suffolk Superior Court jury yesterday convicted an Everett man for involuntary manslaughter in the beating and stabbing murder of Ricardo Garcia at Allerton and Peirson streets on Aug. 8, 2021, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Dravon Robinson, 31, was one of three men who jumped Garcia after they stopped to talk to chat up his girlfriend and he rushed to defend her.

In November, a Suffolk Superior Court jury convicted Robinson's cousin, Karonn Brown, 51, of Mattapan, for first-degree murder. Brown’s son, Derrell Sanford, 29, pleaded guilty to manslaughter earlier this month as a jury was being selected for his trial.

Robinson and Brown will both be sentenced in the same courtroom on Feb. 5, the DA's office reports.

The DA's office provided this account of Garcia's death as the three men drove around Mass and Cass, stopping to talk to any women they saw:

Brown exited the vehicle and attempted to speak to Garcia’s girlfriend. Garcia ran over to defend his girlfriend. Robinson and Sanford both exited the vehicle and the three attacked Garcia at the corner of Allerton and Peirson streets. During this attack, Sanford kicked Garcia as Brown and Sanford stabbed him. Garcia was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
