I know it is hard, on the political side of things, for folks not to still hold him to the standard expected of a governor; but I like to believe that people in the state are compassionate and will give the family some personal space, while being properly supportive and caring.

Stress is not the same as
Stress is not the same as depression. Depression is a disease. Alcoholism is also a disease.
I'm not aware that Mrs. Patrick insulted an entire race or religion and blamed it on an illness, so I'm thinking your analogy falls down right there.
