Five teens charged with brutal double beating in South Boston

Boston Police report the five inflicted "significant injuries" on two men in their 30s in an early Sunday beating at East Broadway and I Street.
Officers arriving on scene around 3:20 a.m. didn't have to travel far to find the suspects, police say:
Officers observed the suspects standing against a vehicle with open containers of alcoholic beverages [nearby]. There were several more open containers around said vehicle and on the sidewalk. Officers could smell a strong odor of Alcoholic beverage emanating from the suspects. While on scene officers observed all of the suspects had redness to their knuckles.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's office, which requested $10,000 bail for each, reports South Boston District Court Judge Michael Bolden imposed $1,000 bail for four of the five: Sean Kelley, 18, of Charlestown, Daniel Lynch, 18, of South boston, Kevin McCarthy, 18, of South Boston and Kevin Rull, 18, of South Boston. Dereck McCann, 17, of Dorchester, had bail set at $3,000, but then had his bail revoked on an outstanding Juvenile Court case.
Any of the teens who make bail will have to wear a GPS tracking device, stay away from the victims and be inside by 8 p.m. until their cases are decided, the DA's office reports.

These guys are 18 years old. They are adults in the eyes of the law. Why don't they release their names and treat them like adults?

bad parenting?
I for one, do know them all personally and I'm upset I did not see this sooner. Parents have nothing to do with the way children act out and about in the city and good for the kids for sticking up for them selves. Were you there? No. Do you know the real story? No. Lets not be "internet warriors" and talk about things you have no idea about, specially bringing parents into a situation. All of their parents are good people and have hard full time jobs to support their family. No parents will be deported simply because they were not the ones who fought with the grown men dummy. They had absolutely nothing to do with the situation.

Not all Southie kids are
Not all Southie kids are smoking newports and beating up yuppies. My group of friends are all very respectful. Yes, we drink and like to have a good time, but some yuppies do complain a lot and it is true that you might no know the whole story, I know that i don't know even the half of it and I am from Southie. You talk about a clean up act, and try to say that you're perfect, but in the long run you're no better than anyone else. There are a lot of hardworking respectable kids and families from Southie, almost all of them are defending your country so screw the tax dollars. More than half of my closest friends are in the Marines. So don't come on a website and try to put down a whole town or group of kids. They said the two guys were from Southie and Dot, how do you know if they weren't the punks and gave the teens problems first?
End of the day
At the end of the day, the southie kids arent going anywhere and the yuppies arent going anywhere. Either way, savage beatings are not good for either side. Southie is a tough city, but its also a great place to live and raise a family. I havent lived here my whole life, I'm not a native, but I've been here for over 15 years. I love Southie, its a great place to live. But like I said earlier, beatings like this dont help anyone and 99% of the time, they are unneccesary. Hopefully these kids will learn a lesson, and the two guys who suffered the beating, will fully recover.
