Bobby Valentine wound up injured in a ditch in Central Park yesterday when he crashed his bike - while reading a text from Dustin Pedroia, the New York Times reports.
"When he looked up, he had to swerve to avoid the umbrellas of two French tourists walking in front of him. The bike skidded, and he lost his balance and went careening head over pedals down the side of the hill by the road."
He earned his injuries. Scary part of the story is that he frequently rides to Fenway, also putting Boston pedestrians at risk.
Made a comment on the radio about a week ago (Dennis and Callahan?) about how they wouldn't waste so much time this offseason looking for a manager like they did last year. The inference was they'd be looking - but would focus more on filling holes in the lineup.
Certainly wasn't intending to make an announcement, but definitely a Freudian banana peel!

I've had this image of Valentine in one of those old-timey bicycles with the huge front wheel, all dapper in his foppish suite (replite with a bowler hat and watch on a chain), wobbling along ...

I don't think that will continue to be a problem here ...
... after tonight's game ends.
yeah, but..
But after he gets fired, he'll have TONS of free time for riding out the Common! WE'RE DOOMED!
Will be less distracted
Not so many texts from players, or teams wanting his services...
Having biked in central park
Those tourists were probably in the bike lane, walking wrong way, instead of where they were supposed to be.

Ah, anyways.
Quite contrary...
He rides a modern day, carbon fiber Specialized. You'd think he would at least have a Firefly or a Seven frame.....
Image blown, I guess
