Serious question
Is there an increase in strong-arm type robberies recently or are they just being reported more?
Shame
Victim should have crossed the street.
Once again Stanley Staco
out does our two major birdcage liners with his reporting.
Second to none
Staco is the best follow for local crime news in real time.
@Stacos is awesome. Woke up
@Stacos is awesome. Woke up one morning to find our car parked on the street had been smashed into. What did we do: checked twitter for any mention of accidents overnight. That's how we found out about stacos, he had tweeted that it was a drunk driver who hit our car and three others and then fled in a taxi.
More hypodermic needles and drug dealing in Victory Gardens
INCREASE. Vandalism and theft in the community gardens between Boylston and Park Drive, car break-ins, EMS responding to overdoses, murdered homeless men in the Muddy river and Mothers Rest playground. Sound like a Dennis Lehane movie?
There is a declared opiate epidemic . Despite the constant sale & use of drugs in and around the Fenway Victory Gardnes, there have been no visible police patrols or arrests. Despite this continued crime, the area seems NOT a concern of the new Police Commissioner and Mayor.
Clemente Field is maintained by Fenway colleges and frequented by students, visitors to the Museum and residents walking their dogs.
The Fenway neighborhood population is growing and more affluent with the luxury apartments going up on Boylston creating perfect targets for drug addicts who are now ARMED.
Where were you in 1985?
This wouldn't have even been news.
Not that it is a good thing that it happened, not that the drug problem isn't real, but this mugging may not have even shown up on the police reports back then.
Where were you since then?
I lived in the West Fens from 1990-2000. It was hardly a shooting gallery in any sense of the word. Excellent neighborhood, in fact.
Exactly
It cleaned up a lot in those years, just like most "trouble" spots.
I was there until 1990, and then worked in the Medical Area much of a decade later, but I got the impression from older friends that it was far worse in the late 1970s and early 1980s. There were a lot of muggings that went unreported, as it was a popular cruising area and some of the victims didn't want to risk admitting that they had been there.
Now has less crime than the
Now has less crime than the Back Bay and South End
The more things change
the more they remain the same.
