Staffers at Dorchester school raising funds for burial of former student killed when two cars crashed
Staffers at TechBoston Academy in Boston say Fritz Philogene, who died when two cars crashed at Talbot and New England avenues and at least one hit him as he rode his bicycle, deserves to be buried in his native Haiti.
They've started an online effort to raise the $5,000 it would take.
Philogene left the school after the eighth grade - he was a student at the West Roxbury Academy when he died - but he returned often to his former school:
Fritz loved to help others and often did in his own quiet way. Several years ago at the former TechBoston Lower Academy Frtiz eagerly assisted in constructing our lending library. He offered his time and talent to build the shelving, paint the walls and hang the flags that lined the space. We will remember and cherish Fritz's generous spirit and the picture captures it best.
