Somewhat related: The Coolidge Corner Theater, The Brattle, and The Somerville Theater all have "Virtual Screening Rooms" up on their websites where you can stream new movies and a portion of the proceeds goes to the theater. Good way to check out new movies and support local theaters.
Local music venues too
Passim has live nightly performances, and access to recorded past performances.
