Good news, Southie: Hollywood finally making a movie about you that doesn't involve ruthless, bloodthirsty gangsters

Yes, it's some lighter fare this time: The 1974 busing crisis. Or as Jeremy Piven, in South Boston this week, puts it:

On set filming The Walk … Boston 1974 in the belly of the beast . The dismantling of segregation is at it’s core .

Oh, shh, nobody tell him about Whitey and busing.

Has anyone seen the Miramax movie from 1997 titled SQUEEZE? It’s the best Boston movie that no one ever talks about. It may be the Black equivalent of THE FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLE in that sense. I think COYLE has gotten its due in the last 5-10 years, so it’s hard to still call it ‘underrated’, although it is. And I enjoy the BET classic movie BLUE HILL AVENUE, but SQUEEZE is both a sleeper and has very familiar—like that gas station at Fields Corner familiar—location shots, while BLUE HILL AVE was shot in Toronto.

Yes, crime is a theme, but it’s not Irish bank robbers. Its a good film.

(Caveat: I have not seen this film in like 15 years or so.)

Why is this not being filmed in Charlestown? Seriously.

When are these Hollywood writers going to learn that organized crime and Boston politics are the same thing. The Boston Public Schools are more segregated now than they were in 1974 and just as unsafe.

But everything I can find appears that it's produced by white folks and made from a white point of view? *facepalm*
